Asbestos Abatement

What is asbestos?

Asbestos is a group of naturally occurring minerals that can break into tiny fibers that are invisible to the naked eye. Asbestos is extremely resistant to fire and heat and has been used in products for more than two thousand years. In the construction industry, it was used in more than 3,000 building products.

Asbestos fibers can be released when disturbed and can be potentially harmful if inhaled. Exposure to asbestos can cause disabling or fatal diseases such as asbestosis, lung cancer, mesothelioma and other cancers, whose symptoms may not appear for more than 20 years. By reducing a person’s exposure, the chances of becoming ill are reduced.

Asbestos Exposure

Most worker exposures occur during the removal of asbestos and the renovation and maintenance of buildings and structures that may contain it. For families living in older homes that still have asbestos, exposure can occur during renovations and proximity to poorly maintained asbestos containing products.

When asbestos containing materials are damaged, removal becomes a requirement. If you believe you may have asbestos and are in need of asbestos removal, please contact us for a quote.
